Services and Staffing:

The Genomics Core will be established to allow individual investigators
access to state of the art genomics micro-array technology equipment. The
core laboratory will provide access to the both an Affymetrix Micro-Array
apparatus and data analysis system, as well as a custom array apparatus for
glass slide array of investigator initiated arrays. The Core has the
bio-informatics support for the procedures performed and will assist the
investigators in data analysis. Technical support is provided to perform
the analysis on the Affymetrix chips and in the production of the custom
arrays. The oversight for the Core will be provided by Michael Griswold
who also directs the Molecular Biology Core Laboratory.

Resources:

The core laboratory has a considerable amount of major equipment items not
possible to be present in individual investigator laboratories. This
includes an Affymetrix micro-array chip hybridization and scanner with
associated bio-informatics system. A Molecular Device Custom Micro-Array
Apparatus is also available that utilizes a robotics system to micro-array
chips on glass slides. Related bio-informatics software and related
equipment are also available to assist in data analysis. Technical support
for performing the analysis are available to operate and facilitate
investigator initiated genome studies.
